It is indeed true that in our obsession to lose weight most of us watch what we exclude rather than scrutinize the nutrition of the food we do include in our diet. The following article makes a very persuasive case for the need to question the health value of many diet fads out there. In particular, it highlights the danger of the highly popular Atkins diet claiming that it ‘stresses’ the body in the long run.

Particularly refreshing is the suggestion made by the writer to rethink state provision of healthcare for its people- that money and effort into helping people make better food and exercise choices can do more for people’s healthcare needs than simply pouring state funds into making healthcare affordable.

As the saying goes, ‘We are what we eat’.
